Background:-
The first album from the duo Seedhe Maut revolved around social issues, the thinking of society. The album was well marketed by Azadi Records their label, the album started from the song "KRANTI" which was basically a song for announcing their album. The album art is too inspired by this protest event by Gandhi named "Dandi March". The name of the album means "TO GIVE A STATEMENT" Seedhe Maut is giving a statement by this album. Let's Discuss and Review the album.
Artwork:-
"Encore and Calm were inspired by the Dandi March statue by Deviprasad Roychowdhury; the from, anatomy, and movement really resonated with them and they wanted their own "trapped out" version of the same. "Kranti" was a name that Seedhe Maut were playing around with in the initial stages of this project. The word "Kranti" means revolution and Seedhe Maut wanted this album to be their first step towards this revolution. With them, they wanted their friends in this revolution - those are the people you see behind the duo in the artwork."

Production:-
The production of this album is classical. When I heard the album for the first time 2 Years back I was mesmerized by the production Quality. Each and every song from the album stands out in terms of production, amazing. Not only beats, but the adlibs were also too good. They were placed where they needed to be, Calm delivers the verse, and after his fast flow, Abj speaks in the adlibs, wow what an amazing work in the mixing. The reverbs in songs make the listeners feel magical many times. Not only the mix but damn the master did in the overall album is awesome. When listening to the album one can not feel that they are listening to songs that have a particular sound. The way sound has been maintained is really high class. This album's production is surely elite but an album like Tabia makes the competition more tuff so I would give it 9/10 for production. (Before Tabia I would have given 9.5/10 but as the competition increases the standards go high).Lyrics:-
Damn man, this album was lyrically the most superior album without any doubt. The complex flows with alliterations, metaphors, and punches especially from Abj make it like squeezing water from stone for a new listener and that's why they can't get what they both(ABJ and CALM) want to talk about. When I first heard the album my reaction was "What the fuck ??? What are they willing to say, wtf they wanna deliver" Lol, a bit cringe but yes these were the exact emotions, but after 4-5 listens I was amazed by the content they delivered, the smilies they used, the catchy hook they gave. The album literally doesn't have even a single loose line that comes out, very very tight writing. For a noob, I don't think they can vibe to this album but trust me if once you vibe, it will be an evergreen album for you.The way they gave melodies in some songs and in a poetic way, I was like woooow, what on earth they can't do man !! I don't think I will hesitate to give 9.7/10 for lyrics of this album, It has been 3 years and the album still can't be decoded by many listeners.Theme:-
I am sure that many people won't find a theme though the album had skits and the main reason for this is complex flows from ABJ and Calm cause of which many people don't get what they want to say. Believe me, this album is a Concept-based album with small three themes within the skits:-
- The first one being how society thinks about a rapper and it further connects to the second and third theme too.
- The second theme describes the thinking of youth and how the thinking of their parents (theme 1 reference) doesn't allow them to fully enjoy Hip Hop or either Do Hip Hop.
- The third theme is about society that how it bounds one in some certain parameters and if any individual tries to break those rules he is criticized by society.
Finally, in the last song, Chalta Reh Seedhe Maut motivates people that they should keep moving and that they don't give a F about society and will continue to focus on their work. One of the best creative albums. The creativity about the skits is amazing. It took time to understand what is going on but when I got that I was surprised to think about the creativity and hard work for coming with such a beautiful theme. I would give a score of 9/10 for the theme. Though the theme was amazing but album like Prashna Chinna took that on another level.Retention rate and Transitions:-
The album was released three years ago and it still feels fresh whenever I listen to it. The retention rate of the album is top class. I have heard the album more than 100 times in the past two years but still, I can enjoy it. The transitions are just fire. The way Skits and songs change is very smooth. The albums having 3 or more skits don't have good replay value because the skits to become boring after a time. Though there is some adverse effect of these things on the album but still the skits don't do that damage the way they are made and fit with songs is tremendous. My score would be 8/10 and this is because sometimes skits become skip and thus not letting me enjoy the album to the fullest.
Sequencing:-
I feel that the album being a theme album the sequencing was not that difficult task. But the way the theme one is linked to the other two is amazing.Impact:-
When the album was released it didn't have much impact on the whole desi scene and the reason is obvious Seedhe Maut was underrated at that time. But man the progress this album has shown within its time span is amazing. The album is like a bible for those who wanna learn Christianity. The album recently crossed 10M+ streams and that is a huge number. Many people though think that this album is overrated or anything, Will discuss it in coming slides.Let's Discuss
Is this album overrated?
So in the community talks like this are going and what would be the best opportunity other than this post to express my views upon the topic. So the word 'overrated' is first of all the most misused word in Hip Hop scene. Anything which gets recognition is termed as Overrated by people and the reason behind that is just cause they cannot understand it. But many people give a valid point that " All the listeners put this album in their Top 5 although they cannot vibe to it", According to me this is wrong but does this make anything overrated? A person who doesn't like Mango, is mango overrated for him? Think wisely, Overrated means anything which is rated above than it deserves to be. Do you think the best piece of art can be said overrated? I get everyone cannot vibe to everything so simply tell that I don't understand it or cannot vibe to it but saying anything which is not liked by you and becomes famous, overrated is a shitty thing.
